Fed: Governor-general visits troops in Afghanistan
Governor-General QUENTIN BRYCE has paid a surprise visit to Australian troops in southern
Afghanistan.
Ms BRYCE has flown from Dubai aboard an Air Force C-130 Hercules .. dropping in on
Australian personnel at Tarin Kowt and Kandahar Airfield.
In Tarin Kowt .. she's had lunch with soldiers from the First Mentoring Task Force
.. addressing them in the main recreational area at the base.
She's told the gathered troops she sees in them so much to make her proud.
In Kandahar .. the Governor-General met personnel from the rotary wing group .. who
operate two CH-47 Chinook helicopters .. plus those who operate the Heron unmanned surveillance
aircraft.
It's the second time she's visited Australian troops in the Middle East.
