NATO TO WITHDRAW TACTICAL NUCLEAR ARMS.(Main)

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization has decided to remove its tactical nuclear weapons from Europe.

Formal ratification of the decision may be announced as early as November, when President Bush and leaders of the 15 other NATO countries will meet in Rome. At those meetings the countries will finalize plans for a revamped alliance following the collapse of communism in the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, Secretary General Manfred Woerner said Thursday in Bonn.
