Qld: Police officer begins big ride today
A Queensland police officer will leave Brisbane today to ride to Sydney and back to
raise money for charity.
44-year-old Constable WAYNE METCALF who works at the Brisbane suburban Moorooka police
station plans to leave police headquarters in the city at 10am (AEST) - farewelled by
Police Commissioner Bob Atkinson.
Constable METCALF, a triathlete who completed the gruelling Ironman Malaysia competition
in February, says he hopes to ride up to 250 kilometres a day and return to police headquarters
in Brisbane on April the 27th.
He says he'll be collecting sponsorship from local businesses, police and members of
the community during his ride to support the work of the Make-a-Wish Foundation.
